Monday Memes

It's Monday! What are you reading?

Last week I read A place In This Life by Julie Rieman Duck(this one I just finished yesterday).   Also, I reviewed the movie In Time and posted my review of the YA book Paranormalcy by author Kiersten White.
This is my plan for the current week:

Weekly meme at should be reading
Musing Mondays asks:
These are some of the series I enjoy:
The Sookie Stackhouse Series
The Mortal Instruments
The Twilight Saga (can't help it, I like it!)
The Hunger Games

Thinking of reading this series: Anita Blake     Dexter

Do you read books that are part of a series?  Of course I do!  Series are my favorite thing in the whole wide literary world.  Why?  Because you have a story full of characters, and those characters grow and develop with a new chapter of the title.  Sometimes, you read a book (the 1st of the series) and you find it weak or lacking and then when you give the opportunity to the 2nd book and everything is different.  In a second book probably you will find a writer who has more experience and who knows better his characters and his world.

Do you collect all the books in the series before starting?  I prefer to have at least the first two or three books, so I can read continuously, but I don't have to buy all of the books of a series to begin with my reading.

What if the series is brand new, and the only book that’s been published so far is Book one? That's a sad day when I find out the book is part of a series and I have to wait for the next one for a long time.

As subsequent books in the series are published, do you go back and re-read the preceding books? I don't go back to the previous books, that's why I prefer to have at least 2 or 3 books of the series.  I prefer this, but if the series is new and the cover calls to me, I know I will have to endure the sadness of months waiting for the book and later, endure the longest hours in wait of the postman with the desired Amazon package.

  1. You enjoy the same series! :) I can't wait for the next Sookie, since the last one wasn't the best :/ But I have high hopes for the next one!
And Anita Blake is also on my tbr-list, friend of mine recommended it months ago, still haven't had a chance..! :/

Thanks for sharing, and thanks for stopping by! :)
