Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
IMDb Rotten Tomatoes
This movie has time as the central theme, the axis moving the action. On this cinematic world, time is the currency to obtain every service, utility and commodity. People have a clock on their arms and at age 25 it activates, changing their existence forever, for everyday will be from that moment on, a constant fight against time.
The main character is a guy with high sense of altruism in a society that doesn't see this as a high value. Will is interpreted by Justin Timberlake. He lives in a ghetto and he fights hard to gain time for him and his mother. Will loses his mother and something clicks inside him. He knows that by controlling time, he can open opportunities for himself and for his crusade: ending society control by the few by ending time control. A few control time, therefore controlling lifespans and controlling immortality.
On his crusade he finds a partner, Sylvia, interpreted by Amanda Seyfried. Although, Sylvia is rich (time rich) she empathizes with Will and becomes an integral part in Will's plans. Will can be described as a futuristic Robin Hood, he gives time and by doing so gives life.
The movie received a 3 out of 5 for the inefficacy of the characters to make logical actions. Maybe the director wanted to maintain a thrilling ambiance on the movie and wanted to keep Will Salas on edge, but some events could have been prevented by taking logical decisions. In one scene Will almost runs out of time, but he had the means to obtain some easily. He had a goal, a purpose and sometimes he didn't prioritize to assure his wish to stop the system could be achieved.
The more emotive moment of the movie is when Will losses his mother. In that moment the viewer understands the magnitude of the situation on that society, in which people live everyday as the last one.
