Candy and the Cankersaur has beautiful colors and drawing looks good. I read this story to my little girl and she loved the dinosaur. The story had her attention from the beginning.

Something I consider could be improved in this book is how it delivers the morale. Kids should discover the morale and lessons intrinsic in the story by analysis and interpretation. Sometimes, the author tells the lesson directly through a character and that stops the learning process for the kids.

Sandberg wrote this story as a homage to Syd Hoff and we can clearly see the influence of Danny and the Dinosaur in Candy and the Cankersaur.
