WinterHaven Blog Tour : Shiver

Here in Jessy's Bookends are happy to be part of the WinterHaven Sleigh Tour hosted by WinterHaven Books.  That's why we are posting today a review of our choice of a winter book review.  To see who else is part of this tour, visit WinterHaven Sleigh Tour.  I chose Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater.
Source: Purchased
First a little about this book:
Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1)Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When she was a child, she was bitten by wolves.  Since then she has always felt a connection to the pack inhabiting Mercy Falls.  A yellow eyed werewolf has had her attention for a long time.  She feels him as her own.  A yellow eyed guy appears into her life that she recognize as her wolf.   His name is Sam and every  Spring he changes into a new being, this guy which whom Grace feels an intense connection.  The only question is this: how much time can he stay with Grace if he is awakened during cold season?

This a well written book. Characters are describe in detail and we readers can create a concrete image of them. We can picture Sam and Grace completely. The two POV the author uses are perfectly balance. The other interesting element is the temperature. Every chapter is impacted by this change because characters are greatly affected by it. Transformations are more organic for this and less sci-fi.

I recommend this YA reading. This is a new kind of werewolf, so your paranormal Tbr will receive something different.
