Feature and follow

Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

When I buy a book I decide on it after reading the synopsis.  When you think about it, every book has the possibility of receiving a negative review or a positive review, it all will depend on what that individual reader is looking for.
I always enjoy a good review, preferably spoilers free.  I like to read reviews both positive and negative, that way I know what I could find while reading. But, I build my opinion according to my own reading experience. I always ask myself: Did I liked the story?  After reading the book, did I understand the main character better?   Well, I ask myself all sort of questions after reading a book.
I can't say I have ever bought a book based on a bad review, but If I do in the future, probably it will be because I want to have my own opinion.  Who knows, maybe I will love the book others didn't enjoyed.

  1. I really like your answer, it's like one of the most perfect ones I've seen so far, along with a couple of other's. It makes a lot of sense as well, because it's like reading the synopsis and maybe the first chapter of the book to get a feel for it (if you're in the store) makes a lot more sense to me. And I don't always like to take other's words, so that way I can form my own opinion.

  2. I like to read a mixture of reviews, and the first few pages, before I decide whether to buy/read a book. I think it's nice to have a balance :)

  3. Hi, New follower. I wouldn't buy a book just because it has bad reviews, but I would read a book with bad reviews. For me it is based on the author and the book.
