Book Tag #2

You have been tagged!!!

I was tagged by Cherie Colyer
Here are the tag rules:
1. You must post the rules.
2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and then create ten new questions to ask the people that you have tagged.
3. Tag ten people and link to them on your post.
4. Let them know you've tagged them!

Here are my answers:

1. What was the last book you read that you couldn’t put down? I finish reading A Place In This Life, a YA novel by Julie Rieman Duck. I couldn't abandon this book for other things, the book is that good.

2. What got you started Blogging & Why? I had always been curious about it, then one day (with some cheer on from my husband) I decided to create a blog. Since that day I became a book blogger, the process has been slow, you know, the learning curve. I really enjoy it.  I have known so many bloggers, which is great, after all we are a big community dedicate to share the love for books.

3. What is your favorite Genre & Why? My favorite genre is Fiction.  I prefer to read fiction books, because they are made to escape from daily routine, they can easily transport you to unknown places.

4. What series haven’t you started that you would like to dive into? Matched series by Ally Condie. I have read great reviews and definitively I will include this read, at least the first book, this year.

5. What is your favorite book to movie adaptation? Least fave? My favorite is Interview with the Vampire. The screenplay was written by Anne Rice, you can see how the characters are never diluted for the sake of fantastic Hollywood artistic liberties. My least favorite is Twilight because the protagonists spend nearly 50% of the movie jumping in the woods from tree to tree.

6. What are you reading now and what do you think about it?  I'm reading Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt.  The story is about Eden a girl who grew up in a dystopian society.  So far the book has had my attention.

7. If you could put yourself into any book, which would it be? The Mortal Instruments series.

8. Name a book that made you cry.  I can't remember ever crying by reading a book, but I have read some sad ones.  Into The Wild is a sad book and A Place In This Life has a really sad development for one of the characters.

9. Do you donate your books or do you save them all? We keep our books, but we have donated books to the local library.

10. What is one tip you would give to a new book blogger? Be patient and find your own point of view and unique voice.

  3. Hi Jess. Sorry it took me awhile to get over here to read your answers. I read fiction for the same reason. I get enough reality in my own life (not that it's bad, but I like being taken to unknown places too). I haven't read the books you mentioned. I'll be off to GR next. And I too haven't started the Matched series, yet. Thanks for participating.

  6. Hey Jess! I enjoyed your answers; I agree on the blogging questions completely (Questions 2 & 10). Blogging is a slow process, but so worth it for those who really enjoy it :) Patience, consistency, and diligence are key to being a successful blogger and I think you stated that very well.

Thanks for tagging me, very cool! Here are my answers:
Classic authors for me would be Jane Austen and C.S. Lewis, i believe they both fit that category :) Their books are amazing!

I do not own a reading device yet (kindle, ereader, etc) so I have the applications on my laptop in order to review ebooks for Netgalley. I have the adobe digital editions and a kindle reading application. I'm trying to get a kindle fire because my laptop is too heavy and inconvenient for reading books, but for now it works well so I can read ebooks :)

Nope, have not read short stories lately. Can you recommend any good ones?

My fave book, I can never only give one. For me a fave book means I'll read it more than once and there are a few :)
The Guy I'm Not Dating by Trish Perry
    The Chronicles of Narnia
Mine is the Night by Liz Curtis Higgs
    The Face by Angela Hunt

Who is my fave literary character? That would be Edmund from Narnia. He starts out as a cruel brother and betrays his family, but once he learns the power of forgiveness he ends up being one of the most faithful and understanding characters in fiction. I relate to his journey more than the other four and I deeply admire his transformation.

My fave quote? I'm going to use scripture for that one. My fave ones are Psalm 91 & Psalm 139. Both are powerful, comforting and illustrate God's love very well. The book of Esther is also a favorite of mine.

I definitely prefer paperback books or print books in general. Ebooks are still new and have been an adjustment for me. I enjoy holding the book and using bookmarkers to mark my spot.

This month: just finished Halflings by Heather Burch and will be reading Replication by Jill Williamson, Great Day Every Day by Max Lucado and The Maid of Fairbourne Hall by Julie Klassen. I also want to read these library books: Susan May Warren's Heiress and Nothing But Trouble and Bad Girls of the Bible by Higgs for bookclub.

Yes, I will be having a giveaway hopefully this week or next week. I'll be giving away 4 books in honor of my brother's birthday, but please check out my blog for details. The books will be focused on strong male characters, but don't want to reveal which ones they are yet because I'm still deciding. here's my blog: karathewriter.blogspot.com

Yes, I can recommend 3 books that have impressed me recently. The Merchant's Daughter by Melanie Dickerson
    First Date by Krista McGee
    Starters by Lissa Price
they are all great books that I have reviewed recently.
Thanks Jess for such GREAT questions, that was fun! Have a great week and happy reading :)
