B's Review of Blue Blood Series

Today I have a guest. My husband have been reading some of my books. I ask him if he would be interested in review one of the them for my blog. He accepted and now I can share with you a different perspective.  I really liked this review, let me now your thoughts on this books.

Blue Bloods Series: Book #1 & #2

Here is B's review:
I’ve just read Blue Bloods and Masquerade, the first books on Melissa de la Cruz’s Blue Bloods series. So with a little motiation from the wife here I am writing this review of these two books. Let me start by saying that the books are really interesting and entertaining.
Blue Bloods is a creative take on the vampire genre. Away are the trappings of the old stake through the heart and shadow stalker monster. Or the smooth smiling bastard that’ll suck you dry that many have been emulating since we were first introduced to Lestat so many years ago. Instead we get New York socialites, angels and teenagers, oh and vampires of course.
Our heroine, Schuyler (Sky) Van Allen, is our window for us to peep into this alluring world; a prep student that slowly awakes to a new life as a fledgling vampire. Even though vampires here are still blood suckers, we get instead a new take on it. They are angels that were cast down from heaven doomed to an eternal system of reincarnation tied down to an earthly existence.
The antagonists here, besides the ones Schuyler might see up front, we get the fables silver bloods, aberrations that are supposed to be no more than closet monsters long gone. The entanglement that ensues with these creatures is mostly the primary motivating factor behind our heroine’s actions. It takes her and us along for the ride through an interesting journey that I’ll not spoil for the story’s sake.
Though riddled with clichéd characters and situations left and right, the story itself and its creativity, more than makes up for it. Could have done with fewer fashion references, guess they were lost on me. Here’s waiting to get the third one. I give both books a solid B+. I suggest that you tackle them both back to back since they are not that long and this is a continuing story.

Jess's thoughts on this series:
I've read both books.  I like the story and its creativity.  I give both books 3 out of 5 stars, the series gets better at  The Van Alen Legacy. Here is the book trailer.
