This week Follow Friday asks:
I like unique names for characters and am looking forward to coming up with some when I start writing. What's the most unique character name you've come across?

In Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, there is a young woman (one of the main characters) whose name is Door. I doubt she could find someone else with her same name. I'm pretty sure that when she was at London Underground Elementary School and her teacher was taking attendance, she never heard her name twice with exception when someone said: "open the Door... Door"
This is my Follow Friday, I hope you can enjoy this post. Leave a comment with a link to your Follow Friday, so I can stop by and return your kind visit and follow!
I've not read that. How horrible would it be to have that name!
ReplyDeleteTrue, but someday made we can see a kid name like that, or maybe house or something like that. People are choosing stranger names today.
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's really funny! I would hate to be named Door! But it's definitely unique and it's definitely out there and I've never heard of it before!
ReplyDeleteThanks for following me, I'm following back!

Door. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by! Glad to meet you :)
This Follow Friday reminded me of some actor, he called his child Pilot (it's original but I think is not a name). This is my opinion, maybe someone else thinks the name has something special.
ReplyDeleteThanks Eileen, Jennifer, Laura and Jen for stopping by and follow.

I think that's probably the most unique name that I've seen mentioned so far. lol. I took the easy way out (was lazy bones) and just picked the pretty somewhat exotic names I liked. lol.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, hopping through and definitely following your awesome blog for sure!

As usual my Friday Follow has turned into a Saturday catch-up. Door might be intriguing if you look at it as an entrance to another world. However, the mundane would think the girl was "flat as a door", and so she might get teased a lot.
ReplyDeleteMy fav unusual name is Gormlaith, who is the fiery tempered Gaelic queen of "Lion of Ireland". That was a great historical novel about Brian Boru the last king of Ireland.
